The Holidays

Well, now it is my school holidays. Three weeks of rest from a long short term 2. To answer all the obvious questions, I am not going anywhere, I’m just staying in Sydney. I will be doing a bit of photography, a walking trip or two and I will be celebrating people’s birthdays.

There is a new project that I want to get cracking with, and that will be based on my webserver. (Note, this will get a bit techy!)

I want to make a directory accessible from mobile and from the web. It needs to be able to be updated with new information almost instantaneously. I am thinking of using WordPress as a CMS, with a few plugins and themes, but if you have something better to use, leave a comment below.

OK, that was my tech talk for now. Hope to write a bit more these holidays.

Who am I?

I sat down yesterday evening and thought about how interesting my life is. It wasn’t.

It seemed that my life was made up of too much sitting down. Sitting down in front of the computer, doing school work, or just messing around. I wasn’t getting out much at all. Hey, think about the number of night outs and parties I’ve been to in the last year: 0. Nights are really boring for me. Even looking at Facebook photos makes me feel weird.

This makes me feel really bad, as it is a sign of becoming a social outcast. It feels like as if this is a death spiral; work work work and no play leads to “more devo”.

I think the reason that I feel this is that I am too different to everyone else. I’m not the type of person that goes to these “doing absolutely nothing” parties. I have my own style, but no one else likes it.

Do I need to change? Am I too different for this society?

Do I make sense?

PS: On a happier note, Coldplay’s new album Viva la Vida is out. Review soon (yes I am serious this time). Battle of the Choirs is on 7:30pm Sundays on Channel 7. I am in the Barker choir.

Busy times ahead…

The next month or so will be busy for me. The amount of school work is increasing, and so are the other commitments.

You may know that I am in the choir. We are actually going to be on the glorious Television later in the year as part of a choir competition. I am also going on the choir and orchestra’s Europe tour at the end of the year. New music will have to be learnt.

This means that Twitter and all the other networks will be looked upon less now. I will not update as often as I can. :-(

Thanks for all your support with reading this blog and viewing my photos and Twitter and etcetera.

The holidays

Well, its the school holidays. Two weeks worth. It’s never enough; we all work so hard and get so little in return. But my birthday is in the holidays, so that’s good.

I really want to get more out of these two weeks, but loads of people are gone the first week for a camp. I’m also putting more time into catching up my schoolwork; it has slacked off recently. I’m also working at the computer shop, earning money as well. That takes time from me.

There are so many things that I planned to do but they all go to waste when you really think about how much time you have. You think that downtime is non-existent, but there is always more of it than you think

Well I’ll be looking forward to my birthday party, photos will be on flickr the day after.

Back to School!

Well, I have gone back to school now. It will be a very busy time for me especially with lots of music and other commitments. I will try to write to much as possible, although I can not guarantee one post a week.

Thanks for all your support!

(At time of writing) Four short days…

… until I go to music camp. For me, music camp is an annual thing. A time when all musicians from my school gather somewhere out of school to enjoy music. My friend Tom says it is “the best camp of the year.”

Music camp is held several days before school officially starts. You could say it cuts my holiday short. I don’t find it that way. I see it as an opportunity to get back into school routine, especially after two months of holiday. But what has been bugging me more than ever is knowing that summer has ended and it is only 300 or so days before the next summer.

Summer is a time where I rest after a (successful) school year. Each day, I feel that I have not fully recovered from the year (and why should I?, I have two months off!). But all good things must come to an end, and so here I am.

Over the years, I have tried to find a way to ease back into normal life. I still haven’t found the perfect solution but I have managed to do some things.  Have you got any suggestions on how to get back to normal life after a two month holiday?

New Years Resolutions

After reading Veronica Belmont’s NYR’s, I thought about how many people have it as part of their new year celebrations. For many it is something they strive to do; they put all their effort into it. For me, it’s different.

I have abstained from NYR’s because I feared that I would never get around to them. I was always so busy with school and other stuff, that I thought it was unnecessary to make them. But this year, since I have put so many things on my to-do-list (some to-dos were mammoth tasks), I drew up my NYR’s.

Here they are.

1. Blog/write more. Since I have this blog and many others, I want to keep a good habit of writing and a record of what I’ve done. It gives me something to do when I have nothing to do. At least once a week is good enough; I also have school and my HSC to think about! I would write about what’s happening as well other stuff like news and movie reviews.

2. Earn/save more money. Well, I already have a job and I may want a better one. I like buying stuff online, but I feel I need to save up some money. It also involves getting out of the “impulse buying” habit. I work at a computer store, but this year, I am hoping to apply for a job at the Apple Store in Sydney.

3. Build my social profile. My social life has declined over the past few years, with two years ago being the worst. I was reduced to being alone for most of the time. This year the situation has improved, but it can be better. Now that I am on several social networks (see the links on this site), I plan to use them more often. Also talking to people is a must.

4. Get out more. This means going out with friends to places, as well as nice activities like indoor rock climbing (IRC). I always saw myself as a recluse and this impacts on anyones social life. Getting out more also improves physical health. This isn’t an extreme statement, just a “I want to feel good” statement.

5. As always, do well at school. School is an important part of life. It sets you up for the rest of it. At this stage of high school (near the end), it is important that I do well. I am willing to give up important things to study for exams.

Well, that’s it. I think. There is the to-do-list to write up as well (ugh). Tell me about your NYR’s.
